Our history
Where we started
The history of AJ Steel dates back to 2004 when married couple Anne and Jim Reid founded the business.
The team gradually expanded, with Sales Director Lorraine Findley joining soon after the company launched. Lorraine was followed by Operations Director David Reid five years later and then Sales Advisor and Accounts Administrator Maddie Findley in 2015.
AJ Steel quickly developed a reputation for being a leading steel supplier within the Midlands. After spending almost 15 years trading from a small office in Rugby town centre, the growing company moved to its current location off Junction three of the M6, which became home to AJ Steel’s fully-stocked on-site warehouse, serving customers from across the Midlands and beyond.

Where are we now
The latest member to join our sales team is Billie Plant, who we welcomed in 2021. Now a team of eight, AJ Steel proudly remains an independent family-run business. We value that personal touch and we believe in keeping our business real. Real people and real faces for our customers to speak to.
